Iittala Lantern

Candleholder 250mm clear

Clear

Lantern by Harri Koskinen started as a sculptured candleholder with a simple, streamlined design. In 2013, the classic Lantern received an electrical update. A perfect balance of mouthblown glass, Lantern gives the illusion of light floating in air. Recognized as a Nordic design icon, Lantern creates its own sense of space and calm with or without a candle. The smaller Lantern tealight candleholder has the same proportions of the bigger version. Reflects a soft, flickering glow that creates harmonious ambience. Clear glass complements the stunning sculptural design. A striking glass art object that makes an impact in any interior. Mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory. Made in Finland.

Harri Koskinen strives to find solutions that are innovative for both the consumer and the producer. In 1999, he created Lantern, a sculptured candleholder with a clean, simple, streamlined design. Perfectly balanced between pure lines of mouth blown glass, the candle creates an illusion of light floating in air.

In 2013, Iittala gave the classic Lantern a modern update by creating an electric version. Electricity increases Lantern’s usability. The lighting fixture can be placed in a range of environments--between shelves or in open spaces. Lantern’s strong shape allows for it to work naturally with both electricity and a live flame.
