Iittala Kivi

Tealight candleholder 60mm cranberry

Cranberry

Heikki Orvola designed the Kivi (’stone’ in Finnish) candleholders in 1988. Since then, the small jewels of light have become a modern classic of Nordic design. Created in a vast multicolour dream of rich shades, Kivi showcases Iittala’s unique coloured glass expertise. Each hue is created using Iittala’s own personalized colour recipe. The Kivi tealight candleholder’s thick glass enriches the candle’s flame, creating a gentle glow that brings cosy ambience to any interior. Vibrant cranberry highlights the clean, elegant design, adding warmth and cheer. Combine favourite colours to create high impact. A thoughtful gift. Works with votives and high quality tealights.

Kivi

Kivi (meaning “stone” in Finnish) are small jewels of light designed by Heikki Orvola in 1988. The votives enrich the flame’s glow and multiplies it. Iittala’s glass experts create Kivi using solid colour for the glass mass instead of merely colouring the glass from the surface which makes the colour especially rich. Kivi is available in several different colors, each with their own special Iittala glass recipe.

Iittala's designer Heikki Orvola

Heikki Orvola

Heikki Orvola (b.1943) is a driving force of Finnish design. His designs are woven into the everyday lives of Finns, who drink coffee from his cups, eat with his tableware and celebrate their most important moments with his glasses. Throughout Orvola’s prolific career, which began in the late 1960s, he has worked with a variety of materials including glass, ceramics, cast iron, enamel and textiles. Orvola has received many international accolades for his innovative work including Design Plus and the Kaj Franck Design Prize. In 2002, the Finnish president awarded Orvola with the honorary title of Professor for his achievements in design.

His decades long collaboration with Iittala has resulted in many signature pieces including the popular Kivi candleholder and Miranda bowl.
