The new ultramarine blue Ruutu vases are beautiful alone or grouped with other pieces of the collection. Designed by the French brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Ruutu is a perfectly symmetrical mouthblown masterpiece. Due to the simple diamond shape, Ruutu vases are very complicated and challenging to produce, as glass is a material that likes roundness and not to be drawn into precise geometrical forms. Each Ruutu glass vase is mouthblown and hand-crafted at the Iittala Glass Factory in Finland. Handwash only.
The delicate simplicity of the Ruutu (“diamond” in Finnish) vase by designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec belies the intricate process it takes the most skilled artisans at the Iittala Glass Factory to create the perfectly symmetrical pieces. Each vase is a masterpiece taking seven craftspersons a full twenty-four hours to produce. A modern classic, the vibrant fluidity of the Ruutu mouthblown glass vase has earned it the prestigious iF Product Design Award and the Red Dot Award. In 2020, the Ruutu collection will be complemented with handmade ceramic vases that share the same simple, perfectly symmetrical design. Hand-finished with a lively glaze that reflects light beautifully, the Ruutu vases look elegant when grouped or alone.
