The playful nature of Oiva Toikka

A few years ago Iittala and Oiva Toikka started to plan a relaunch of Toikka’s Fruits and Vegetables collection and his Frutta glassware. Both of these collections are great examples of beloved Oiva Toikka’s limitless imagination, whimsical designs and use of wild colours. Like in other Oiva Toikka’s glass works the thorough understanding of the nature of glass together with Iittala’s master glassblowers brought the playful and colourful elements of nature to life.

“I’m not looking for perfection.
I want it to be fun.” Oiva Toikka

Stroll amidst the berry bushes

Inspired by summer days berry picking in the forest, the Frutta collection was first introduced in 1968. The shape of the pitcher and the tumblers with their delicate motifs of fruit and berries evoke the ease of holidays spend in nature. These pieces are perfect for quenching the thirst during long picnics at the garden. Both the pitcher and the glasses are mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory.
