Renzo Piano

Renzo Piano (b.1937) is an Italian architect and engineer considered to be one of the most important designers of the twentieth century. He is known for the serenity of his design and widely credited for redefining modern and post-modern architecture. Recognized by Time in 2006 on its most influential people list, Piano’s distinguished career includes ground breaking projects like the Centre Pompidou in Paris, San Nicola Stadium in Bari and Kansai International Airport in Osaka. He is responsible for the main layout of Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz and continues to receive prestigious commissions such as The New York Times Building and The Shard in London, Europe’s tallest skyscraper. Piano has earned international honors for his legendary work including the Pritzker Prize, Compasso d’Oro and the Erasmus Prize. He designed Iittala’s Piano cutlery range.
