Lempi is the universal drinking glass, designed by the celebrated Swedish designer Matti Klenell. Meaning ‘favourite’ in Finnish, Lempi has been created for any occasion, informal or spectacular. Matti Klenell

Designer

Matti Klenell has a fondness for glass. The son of glass artists, he grew up surrounded by the household glassware made by his father and mother. His feeling for glass comes from being close to it for many years and from learning how we form affectionate relationships with familiar objects. So when asked to design an everyday drinking glass, he poured in a whole lifetime of experience.

Matti Klenell has won several prestigious national and international awards and his work is represented in the permanent collections of various museums. In 2003 he received the prestigious Ljunggren Design Prize and he has been named Designer of the Year in his native Sweden.

One glass for many different occasions, that’s how the idea for Lempi started.

As World Design Capital 2012, Helsinki will celebrate how design touches our lives and the place in which we live. Iittala invited Swedish artist Per Josephson to share his vision of Finnish urban culture.

Painting collages pixel by pixel, Per Josephson samples our city landmarks and cultural icons. His fresh look at life in Finland's capital appears on Iittala's HEL2012 series, celebrating our Design Capital Year.

With her collection of coloured boxes, designer Anu Penttinen invites you to rediscover the art of putting precious things on display. These vibrant showcases offer an ingenious solution to storing all your treasures. Meant to be mixed and matched, whether you pick one or all, it’s what’s inside that makes it yours.

This year, Vitriini has been honoured with the prestigious iF product design award. Created in glass, oak, and aluminium, the collection offers a host of vibrant colours and hundreds of possible combinations. It’s time to let your imagination go.

Designer

Anu Penttinen has a reputation for humorous designs and masterful use of colour. A graduate of the University of Art and Design Helsinki, she prefers strong colours and clarity of form; creating simple yet powerful shapes. From her studio at Nuutajärvi Glass Village, she calls our attention to the modular functionality of the Vitriini range:
