Iittala at 3daysofdesign | 10–12 June 2026, Copenhagen
In 2026, the Aalto vase celebrates 90 years as one of the most enduring icons of modern design. To mark this milestone, Iittala presents the Aalto 90 Pavilion at Ofelia Plads during 3 Days of Design: a walk-in architectural interpretation of Alvar Aalto’s iconic silhouette. Rising seven metres high, the pavilion transforms the familiar form into a monumental spatial experience, inviting visitors to step inside a living piece of design history. Designed by Tableau CPH, the pavilion translates Aalto’s organic language into contemporary architecture, where heritage meets bold, experiential scale.
Conceived as an immersive encounter with the Aalto legacy, the pavilion brings together space, sound and materiality in a multisensory journey through Iittala’s creative universe. Inside, visitors encounter the Aalto City Vases within an environment that connects past, present and future, offering a place for reflection and dialogue around the role of design in everyday life.
Realised in collaboration with Hydro, the pavilion is brought to life through aluminium – chosen for its strength, lightness and infinite recyclability. Building on Hydro’s long-standing collaborations with designers and architects, recycled and low-carbon aluminium enables a structure that is both expressive and responsible. Designed to be dismantled and reassembled, the pavilion is created with longevity in mind, allowing it to travel and take on new meanings beyond a single event.
In this way, the Iittala Aalto 90 Pavilion becomes a meeting point between design heritage and material innovation.
Six creative cities. Six unique colours.
Celebrating the 90th anniversary of Alvar Aalto’s iconic form, the Aalto 90 City Vase collection reinterprets the design through the essence of six creative cities: Helsinki, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, New York and Berlin. Known for travelling for both business and pleasure, Alvar Aalto drew inspiration for his work from around the world.
The limited edition Aalto 90 Helsinki, Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen Vases are available from 10 June 2026 onwards online at iittala.com and Iittala flagship store Esplanadi in Helsinki, and Iittala stores in Antwerp and Amsterdam.

Iittala and Byredo collaboration: LJUS – Rituals of Light and Scent.
Iittala and Byredo present LJUS — a collaboration exploring Nordic light through glass, flame and scent. The collaboration will make its conceptual debut at MATTER and SHAPE in Paris in March 2026.
Rooted in a shared respect for material, craft and atmosphere, LJUS brings together Iittala’s heritage in glassmaking with Byredo’s sensorial approach to modern culture. Light is treated not only as an effect, but as a material — shaped, reflected and experienced through everyday moments in the home.
At the heart of LJUS is craftsmanship: glass formed through heat, breath and human touch, and the quiet knowledge passed down through generations of makers. Each object carries traces of the process behind it — subtle variations that speak to the living nature of the material.
The collaboration unfolds as an exploration of contrasts: fire and ice, clarity and warmth, permanence and ephemerality. Small rituals of light and scent become starting points for objects that hold mood, presence and atmosphere. The collaboration’s new capsule collection will launch in October 2026.

Unique glass artworks
The glass sculptures, each mouth-blown by master glassblowers at the Iittala glass factory, encapsulate the contrasting seasons that inspired the AW24 collection n, where the extreme light of summer gives way to darkness. Throughout history, life as part of nature has been shaped by various beliefs and rituals. From this uniqueness comes the power that these glass sculptures interpret.
