Iittala X Magis Linnut

Lamp palturi 350x320mm

Linnut (‘birds’ in Finnish) brings together Finnish design legend Oiva Toikka, Magis, and Iittala. Magis adds new life to a flock of Toikka’s most iconic mouthblown birds by replacing the glass with a brilliantly colourful, versatile plastic. The result is Linnut, a playful collection of five cable-free, movable, and rechargeable sculptured lamps that bring a joyful glow to outdoor dinners, brighten a dark entryway or serve as a nightlight in a child’s bedroom. The light is dimmable, you can adjust the amount of light based on the atmosphere. The Linnut Magis Palturi’s odd shaped body is enhanced by his wide eyes and mischievous smirk which bring joyful warmth inside or outside. Granules set differently, making each lamp truly unique. 6+ hours battery life.

The Iittala X Magis Linnut collection is available through selected stores and on iittala.com.

Iittala's designer Oiva Toikka

Oiva Toikka

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the great personas of Finnish glass design. His imaginative, rich and bold glass art is a departure from mainstream Nordic design. Toikka’s individual style is also evident in the utility objects he creates as they often deviate from the traditional clean-lined puritanism of Finnish design aesthetics. In addition to glass, his artistic activities cover staging, fashion design and plastic interior design elements.

Toikka has designed a range of home products for Iittala with his Annual Cube, Birds by Toikka, Frutta, Flora, Kastehelmi, Oiva Toikka Collection and Tundra Collections.
