Mouth-blown and handcrafted at the Iittala Glass Factory in Finland, each Kiikkuri reflects the expressive, free-blown character that defines Oiva Toikka’s iconic glass art. This limited edition of 1000 individually numbered pieces makes Kiikkuri a rare and highly collectible work. Oiva Toikka (1931–2019) remains one of the most celebrated names in Finnish design. Since the first Bird by Toikka emerged in 1972, his vibrant flock has grown to include hundreds of unique creations, each embodying a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions. Birds by Toikka

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. Since then hundreds of new birds have joined the flock. The collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and would not have been possible without Toikka’s hands-on-approach at the glassworks and his keen understanding of each employee’s skills. Today, each glass bird is handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory.

Oiva Toikka

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the great personas of Finnish glass design. His imaginative, rich and bold glass art is a departure from mainstream Nordic design. Toikka’s individual style is also evident in the utility objects he creates as they often deviate from the traditional clean-lined puritanism of Finnish design aesthetics. In addition to glass, his artistic activities cover staging, fashion design and plastic interior design elements.

Toikka has designed a range of home products for Iittala with his Annual Cube, Birds by Toikka, Frutta, Flora, Kastehelmi, Oiva Toikka Collection and Tundra Collections.
